To

5 December, 2025

Tuition

$950

Venue

Golden Peacock Hotel, Lilongwe

overview

This is a 5-day training course that covers the design features of solar water pumping systems to meet the energy needs for irrigation in Agriculture. The course focuses on assessing water requirements and the required energy demand for irrigation. The course provides techniques for assessing solar resource requirements and designing solar water pumping systems. Participants in this course therefore learn how to design or choose an appropriate solar water pumping system for irrigation for various locations. Participants get an opportunity for a site visit to a farm for a demonstration of solar water pumps.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Through successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the impact of solarizing irrigation in Agriculture
  • Determine water requirements and energy needs of irrigation systems
  • Know the components of solar water pumping systems
  • Conduct a solar PV energy resource assessment
  • Understand the feasibility criteria for determining an optimal solar water pumping system
  • Be aware of common risks and challenges of solarizing irrigation in Agriculture
